Getting Started and Therapy Process

How do I get started with therapy?
-
To get started with therapy, you may send a submission via our website, and a member of our team will reach out to you. You may also contact our scheduling team directly at 877.352.1039.

How long does it take to get in for an appointment?
-
Our team works diligently to schedule new clients as quickly and efficiently as possible; however, the length of time it takes to schedule varies depending on the current availability of providers.​

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
-
We ask that you bring a valid photo ID along with your insurance card (if applicable) to the initial appointment. ​

How long will I need to be in therapy, and how often should I come?
-
​Your provider will inform you of the frequency of sessions and length of treatment during your intake session. ​

How long is the therapy session?
-
You can generally expect a session to range from about 45-50 minutes. ​

Can I return to therapy if I feel the need in the future?
-
Absolutely. If you decide to terminate services and would like to return in the future, our team is happy to partner with you in rescheduling. ​​

My family member wants to start counseling. Can they come under my account, or do they need a separate client portal?
-
If you have a friend or family member who would like to start counseling services, a separate account will need to be created. If the friend or family member is at least 18 years of age, please have them contact our office directly to set up services. ​

Can I see someone for mental health and/or substance use issues if I do not have a prior diagnosis?
-
DePriest Center does not require a prior diagnosis to be made before starting mental health or substance use services with our office. ​

May I receive documentation of treatment/participation to use for court/other legal recommendations?

Our office is happy to provide you a signed note as proof of attendance. We do not specialize in forensic psychology. All documentation goes through our Medical Records Department and may take 30 days to review and return. ​

What happens if I move?
-
If you relocate within the state, telehealth services may be considered. If you relocate out of state, please notify our office at your earliest convenience. Our office is only able to provide services to clients whose primary residence is in the state of Tennessee. ​

What happens if my therapist moves?
-
If your therapist moves, you will be notified at the earliest convenience. If your therapist still works for DePriest Center after relocating, you may choose to continue via telehealth services or be paired with a new provider.​

What happens if my therapist leaves DePriest Center?​​
-
In the event that your therapist leaves DePriest Center, our team is happy to partner with you any way that we can to pair you with a new provider. Your therapist will also discuss options with you prior to his/her leave. ​

​​​​​What is the process for canceling and rescheduling appointments?​​

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you may contact our Care Coordinator Team at (877) 352-1039 for assistance. ​​​

What if I am not a Christian?
-
If you are not a Christian or would prefer not to receive faith-based counseling services, that is not a problem. You have the option to opt out of faith-based services.

Insurance

Do you accept insurance?
-
Yes, our office accepts most major insurances.​​ I

How can I know my insurance co-pay?
-
Our office will complete a verification of benefits prior to your initial session; however, this is only an estimate and is not a guaranteed cost of service. If you would like to know the exact cost of service, you may contact the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. ​

Do I have to use insurance, or can I pay out of pocket?
-
If our office is in network with your insurance plan, we are required to bill your insurance. If we are not in network with your insurance, you will be charged our Sliding Scale Rate.

Do you offer Telehealth services?

Yes, many of our providers offer telehealth services.​​​

Client Portal & Communication

How do I communicate with my therapist?
-
You may contact your therapist directly through the client portal account via the "Messages" tab. ​

How will I receive communication through the portal?
-
If our office attempts to contact you via the client portal account, you will receive an email prompting you to view the message. Within your client portal account, you may access any communications via the "Messages" tab. ​

Can I reach my therapist after hours?
-
You may send a message directly to your therapist; however, your therapist may be unavailable after hours. If it is an emergency or you are in crisis, please call 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Room.​

What is my user ID?

If you forget your username, please contact our front office, and a member of our team will be happy to provide it upon request. ​

Why do I have to put my credit card on file?
-
Our office requires a card to be kept on file to process any copayments or fees with our office and to ensure that a balance is not accrued on your account. ​

Types of Providers at DC
-
What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a professional counselor?
-
A psychiatrist provides medication management services, while professional counselors provide mental and behavioral health counseling services.

Are all your providers licensed?
-
We often have student counselors who provide services at DePriest Center. While we do have some fully licensed providers, many of our providers have obtained temporary licensure and are under the supervision of our Program Director.

Unfortunately, our office does not accept EAP.​

Does DePriest Center comply with the No Surprise Act? (Good Faith Est)

Yes. You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" which explains the cost of your mental health care services. This will be covered in your initial intake paperwork. ​

What is the cost?
-
This depends on your insurance plan coverage. Services are billed at $200.00 for an Intake Appointment and $175.00 per session. If you are not covered under insurance, our office offers a sliding scale. ​

How do I pay for my session?
-
Your payment will be processed by our team before, during, or after your session using the card on file.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payments in the form of cash, check, or card. ​

Can I pay later?

Our office policy is that payment is due at the time of service. ​

Do you offer financial assistance?
-
Yes! DePriest Center offers a Sliding Scale Fee. Please ask our team about our financial assistance application. ​

What is a sliding scale?
-
A sliding scale is a flexible fee system based on gross (pre-tax) annual household income and resources, designed to make quality counseling accessible to everyone. With this model, no one is excluded based on income, allowing individuals to receive support at a rate they can afford.

We have providers who see children ages 3 and up. ​

What types of issues does DePriest Center treat?

Our team works with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, trauma, relationship conflicts, substance use, family and parenting challenges, self-esteem, life transitions, eating disorders, body image, personal growth, and more. Each issue is approached with evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, to provide tailored support for individual needs.

Yes, we have providers who are certified in EMDR. ​

What is the minimum age requirement for the IOP Program?

IOP Program participants must be at least 18 years of age. ​

Hours of Operation

What hours are you open?
-
Our hours of operation are 8 AM CST until 5 PM CST Monday through Friday. ​

Do you have weekend hours?

No, we offer hours Monday-Friday. ​

Can you guarantee after-school hours?

No, our office schedules on a first come first serve basis, and we cannot guarantee that a time slot will be open consistently. ​
